
The audio task
A distributor or streaming service deciding whether to tag, throttle, or route royalties differently for AI-generated uploads first needs a working method for telling which uploads are AI-generated at all, at a scale of tens of thousands of new tracks a day.
What the documents show
Deezer's own investor relations site states the company deployed what it calls “patent pending AI detection tools and world's first tagging system of 100% AI generated music” in 2025. A newsroom post dated 21 July 2026 describes the method: the detector looks for artifacts specific generative-AI models leave in the audio they produce, artifacts Deezer says are inaudible to listeners but detectable by software, and which can identify which system, such as Suno or Udio, likely generated a track. The post reports roughly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks a day at a June 2026 peak, more than half of new-music uploads that month, and says the system tagged over 13.4 million AI-generated tracks across 2025, while those uploads accounted for only 1 to 3% of actual listening streams. Deezer states the detector reaches 99.8% accuracy, missing roughly two AI tracks per thousand and misflagging fewer than one human track per ten thousand, applying tags at the album level to limit errors. The same system also powers a listener-facing tool scanning a person's playlists across other services. The July post reports up to 85% of streams on fully AI-generated tracks in 2025 were flagged as fraudulent, which Deezer reads as evidence much of this upload volume serves fraud rather than genuine listening.
Rights status
Deezer's materials describe a detection capability and self-reported volumes; they make no independent legal determination about the copyright status of AI-generated tracks or the fraud they describe, beyond Deezer's own classification. The company states two patents covering the method were filed in December 2024, a filing status, not a granted patent, at the point of this retrieval.
What to check before you use it
This is an editorial checklist. Every figure here, the daily volume, the 2025 total, the accuracy claim, and the fraud-stream estimate, comes from Deezer's own reporting to investors and press, not an independently audited source, so attribute each number to Deezer specifically. Confirm the reporting period before reusing a figure, since the 50%-of-uploads milestone is a stated June 2026 peak, not necessarily a steady-state share. Check whether the December 2024 patent filings have since been granted, amended, or abandoned before calling the method protected intellectual property.

- Does the cited volume or percentage reflect a stated peak month or a steady average?
- Has the December 2024 patent filing since been granted, and does that change what can be said about the method?
Read as what it is, a vendor's account of its own detection system, the record is still specific and dated, and that specificity is the useful part: Deezer names a mechanism, artifact detection rather than metadata or watermark checking, and attaches numbers to a stated period, more than most platforms disclose about how they identify AI uploads.
