Avid folds AI features into Pro Tools without a rebrand

The audio task

A post-production editor searching for a specific line of dialogue across hours of session audio, a mixer wanting a steadier vocal without manual gain rides, or a sound designer looking for a matching sample all face the same underlying problem: finding or shaping audio faster without losing the ability to override the result by hand. Pro Tools has approached this by adding narrow, named features across ordinary point releases rather than rebranding the whole application.

What the documents show

Avid's what’s-new page documents Pro Tools 2025.6 as introducing “AI-powered Speech-to-Text analysis,” described elsewhere on the page as software that uses “AI to analyze audio files for speech/lyric information which is displayed as text directly in context with each clip,” searchable through a Transcript window. The same release integrates Splice's sample library so that, in Avid's words, “Splice AI will instantly find top compatible samples synced to your session's beat, key, and tempo.” A separate entry documents ARA support, added April 2025, for NoiseWorks DynAssist, described as “an adaptive vocal editing plugin that automatically adjusts volume to ensure a steady vocal performance,” free to active subscribers in a Lite version. The page also lists Audio Vivid, called “the world's first AI-powered audio codec standard” for immersive mixing. Avid does not use “AI” as a product-wide brand; each feature is named and dated separately within the ongoing release log.

Rights status

None of the documented features change who owns a session's audio or its master. Speech-to-Text produces a searchable transcript of existing material, not new content requiring clearance; Splice integration surfaces sample content already governed by Splice's own terms, which the Pro Tools page does not restate; and DynAssist, a third-party plugin distributed under its own ARA licence, is not covered by Avid's end-user agreement. The page does not state whether audio processed by these AI-labelled features is analyzed locally or sent to a cloud service.

What to check before you use it

This is an editorial checklist. Before relying on Speech-to-Text for a delivery-critical dialogue edit, verify transcript accuracy against the audio rather than trusting the text alone; check Splice's own licence terms for any sample pulled into a session through the integration, since that licence is separate from a Pro Tools subscription; and confirm whether a subscription tier or a perpetual licence, which Avid's own product page still lists as an option alongside its Artist, Studio, and Ultimate subscription plans, is required for a specific dated feature.
